Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Andrea Newborn was named General Counsel in March 2007. Newborn subsequently assumed the additional responsibilities of Corporate Secretary, and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2008.
Newborn joined The Reader’s Digest Association in 1991 as a Senior Attorney after practicing corporate, securities and commercial law at two law firms in New York City. In 1998, she became Assistant General Counsel and in 2000 was promoted to Vice President, Associate General Counsel. Prior to becoming the Company’s General Counsel, she served as division general counsel for several subsidiaries, with both corporate and litigation oversight for those companies. Corporate governance was added to her responsibilities with her promotion in 2007. As General Counsel, Newborn has played a valuable leadership role during recent significant corporate events, while continuing to direct the ongoing global legal matters for the company including managing a team of 10 staff attorneys based around the world.
Newborn is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) and an active member of the Westchester/Southern Connecticut Association of Corporate Counsel (WESFACCA).
Newborn is a graduate of Brown University and Columbia Law School.
