Montreal-Based Title Encourages Home Cooks to Share Favourite Recipes with Fellow Canadians

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (February 14, 2013) – As part of its commitment to an expanded presence in the Canadian market, the Canadian operations of Reader’s Digest take great pleasure in announcing the launch of its newest magazine, Taste of Home Canada, the Canadian edition of the world’s #1 food and entertaining brand. This introduction of a new Canadian title is based on the overwhelming success of the U.S. version of the title over the past two decades.

Available in both English and French, Taste of Home Canada will be published quarterly, beginning with the inaugural Summer 2013 issue, which will hit newsstands on June 3, just in time to help readers celebrate Canada Day.

To celebrate the launch of Taste of Home Canada, the magazine’s editors invite Canadian home cooks to share their passion for food and entertaining by submitting their best-loved recipes, cooking secrets and tips, humorous anecdotes and glimpses into their kitchens and lives. Beginning on February 22, 2013, fans can enter quarterly cooking contests for a chance to win $500 and to be featured in an upcoming issue of Taste of Home Canada. Each 120-page issue will be filled with more than 100 recipes from Canadian home cooks, bringing them together to share their love of cooking, honoured traditions, and an appreciation of the abundance and goodness of Canadian foods. Recipes will be tested and curated in Canadian test kitchens, ensuring that the recipes are of the best quality to readers. Magazine content will be spread among four engaging sections:

Celebrate: An inspiring section that delivers entertaining ideas and suggestions for welcoming friends and family into your home during Canada’s seasonal events and holidays, from Easter and Mother’s Day to BBQ season and Canada Day.

Cook Smart: Packed with easy solutions for quick weeknight meals and healthy meal suggestions from Canadian test kitchens, this section will feature plates as diverse as the country. From Atlantic lobster to Pacific salmon and Saskatchewan perogies to Quebec poutine, the collection of regional and ethnic recipes will increase readers’ knowledge about what makes Canadian cooking unique.

Contest: Each issue highlights the winning recipes of a competitive cook-off and announces the cookery contest for the next new issue. Along with one Grand Prize winner, three runners up will also have their recipes published. A panel of Canadian cooking experts will select the best submissions and test each recipe to ensure its reliability and success.

Close to Home: This section celebrates the people around the Taste of Home Canada table. Home cooks share their heartwarming memories and best suggestions for Sunday dinners, birthday and children’s parties, as well as other special occasions; and it’s where editors catch up with what the field editors of Taste of Home Canada are up to.
